Protea Hotel By Marriott O R Tambo Airport - Kempton Park

Aviation-themed business hotel 4 km from O.R. Tambo International Airport with free shuttle

Theme and Location

The Protea Hotel By Marriott O R Tambo Airport Kempton Park is designed around an aeroplane hangar theme, with white floors, steel finishes, chrome lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking taxiing aircraft. The hotel sits 4 km from O.R. Tambo International Airport and 1 km from the Rhodesfield Gautrain Station, providing a complimentary airport shuttle that runs every 30 minutes from 05:15 AM to 23:00 PM. The industrial ambiance is reinforced by the sight of planes docking and taking off, giving guests a direct connection to the airport environment.

Rooms

All 213 rooms are soundproofed with double-glazed windows and blackout curtains, ensuring quiet rest despite the airport proximity. Premium bedding, a laptop-size safe, and European and UK adapters are standard in every room, while suites add a separate seating area. Marble bathrooms are provided in all guest rooms, and the aviation-themed decor continues with airplane-inspired details.

Dining

The on-site restaurant, The Warehouse, serves buffet breakfast and international fusion cuisine in a setting with both indoor and outdoor seating. A snack bar, coffee house, and bar are available, along with room service and special diet menus upon request. Themed dinner nights and live sport events are offered regularly, and the bar provides wine and champagne selections.

Business and Conference Facilities

The conference center measures 800 m², making it the largest dedicated event space in the area, and is supported by a fully serviced business center. Fax/photocopying, meeting and banquet facilities, and a 24-hour front desk with concierge service are available. The hotel also offers currency exchange, luggage storage, and invoicing for business travelers.

Accessibility and Guest Services

The hotel provides wheelchair-accessible rooms with grab rails, raised toilets, and lower bathroom sinks, along with auditory guidance systems for visually impaired guests. Free on-site parking and accessible parking spaces are offered, and the shuttle service includes airport pickup and drop-off. A 24-hour fitness center and an outdoor pool with sun loungers and a shallow end are available for active guests.
